American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Council 18 endorse Tim Keller for Mayor of Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Council 18 has endorsed Tim Keller for Mayor of Albuquerque, the union’s local chapter presidents announced today. AFSCME Council 18 represents about 2,000 City of Albuquerque employees and an additional 3,000 workers who live in the city.
“Blue Collar workers ensure that our city parks are clean and safe for our children, that our city busses are running on time, and that our streets are clean. Our members work hard every single day to make our city beautiful and improve the quality of life for all of us. We are honored to endorse Tim Keller for mayor because he shares that same vision and will work hard to make all of us proud to live here,” said Casey Padilla, President of AFSCME Council 18 and Local 624.
“As city security officers, our members are entrusted with protecting our public transportation systems, city streets, and other city facilities, like the Zoo, BioPark, and city museums. Tim Keller recognizes that public safety is vital to the health and well-being of our city, and we are proud to to endorse him for mayor,” said Tomas Romero, President of AFSCME Local 1888.
“Our 911 operators and dispatchers are a vital part of public safety, our librarian assistants are essential to the education of our citizens, and our support staff are critical to delivering city services. We endorse Tim Keller for mayor because he truly understands that the key to a thriving city is investing in education for all of us and making sure our first responders have the support they deserve,” said Michael Dorin, President of AFSCME Local 2962.
“Our members understand that providing vital city services to all our citizens is our number one priority. We work hard every day to make sure that the city runs as efficiently as possible and that services are delivered with the utmost integrity. We are excited to endorse Tim Keller for mayor because he will always be committed to the people of our great city,” said Patricia French, President of AFSCME Local 3022.
Keller said the public servants who make up the AFSCME locals are especially valuable given the impact they have on the city daily.
“Albuquerque’s city employees are true unsung heroes because they provide the vital services we all rely on every day and too often take for granted,” said Keller. “I am honored to have their support, and the support of so many public servants, for our people-powered campaign and look forward to working closely with them to implement policies that improve the quality of life for all Albuquerque families.”
